Located near Kendal, just outside the National Park, Lakeland Maze Farm Park offers far more than its name suggests and is an a-maiz-ing day out. While the famous maize maze is only open during the summer months, the farm park is packed with family-friendly activities throughout its season, including giant slides, bouncing pillows, pedal go-karts, tractor rides, animal encounters and indoor soft play.
If you’re looking for things to do with the kids while you’re in the Lake District , this award-winning attraction is well worth considering.
Where is Lakeland Maze Farm Park?
Lakeland Maze Farm Park is handily located 5 minutes from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway, near Kendal, just outside the National Park. It can be easily reached by car from the A591/A590, or the A65 via Sedgwick village.

Opening Times
Lakeland Maze Farm Park opens during school holidays (in line with Cumbria and Lancashire County Councils) and weekends between February and October.
Their iconic ‘maize maze’ is open during the Summer High Season (typically from mid-July to late-September) and their Pumpkin Patch opens during October half term, and across all weekends in October. On all other dates, only the Farm Park is open.
The attraction opens at 10:00am, and closes at 5:00pm in the low season, and 5:30pm in the high season.
Ticket Prices
Prices vary depending on the time of year and whether tickets are purchased in advance online (these are cheaper so it is recommended!). Prices are at their highest during the summer months, but specific dates for the low and high seasons vary each year, so be sure to check your dates online.
- Adult online (16+): £10.64 – £14.58
- Child online (2-15 years): £10.64 – £14.58
- Senior online (60+): £7.73 – £9.47
- Child under 2 years: Free but still require a ticket.
Season passes are available, lasting 365 days from the date of purchase. These must be purchased online. 2026 season pass prices are listed below:

What to expect from your visit
Since first opening its doors to the public in 2005, the site’s popularity has exploded, and in turn the park’s entertainment offerings have continually expanded too. What began as a simple maize maze has grown into a mix of outdoor activities like tractor rides, pedal go-karts, giant slides and bouncing pillows, alongside indoor adventures including soft play, a padded climbing wall and animal barns. Remaining at the heart of the operation is the farm’s enormous maize maze, which is designed around a new theme each year and includes quiz trails to keep both children and adults alike entertained as they attempt to conquer the labyrinth.
Exploring the attraction
Once on site, the farm park’s many activities are freely accessible, with no limits or guidance on where to head and when, making it ideal for families visiting with younger children. The park’s main attraction, its maize maze, sits beside a field of open activities: two giant slides, a play area and sandpit, bouncing pillows, a pedal go-karting track, mini golf and their water balloon cannons – ‘Water Wars’.
Before entering the main maze, all visitors take part in the mini maze – a smaller maize maze which takes around 15 minutes to complete. Though bumpy and stony underfoot, this maize is pram friendly, and the perfect distance for toddler legs to manage, without losing interest in finding their way out.
On completion, visitors can decide to either return to the entrance or continue into the main maze. This is substantially bigger at 6 times the size of the mini maze and takes roughly 90 minutes to complete (maybe more, depending on your sense of direction!). It also features two sets of metal steps, so is not pram or wheelchair friendly.
Sealed map mazes can be bought for £1 on entry into the maze and, if returned unopened, will be refunded.
Tractor rides of the working farm run from 1.30pm to around 3.30pm daily, setting off every 15 minutes. Children are also able to get up close and personal with some of the farm’s livestock in their barns.
Children’s activities
Lakeland Maze Farm Park is designed entirely with children’s enjoyment in mind. Throughout both the mini and main mazes, themed trails, included in the price of admission tickets, add an extra layer of excitement and purpose to the adventure, and almost all of the activities on site are set up to allow children of all ages to enjoy: go kart tracks of 3 different sizes are spread throughout the park so that everyone from toddlers up to teens can access the fun; the giant pillows are split into age groups (children under 6 and children over 6) so as to keep the younger guests safe; and the indoor soft play is separated into a baby section and a 3 years+ area.
Bags of food can be purchased to hand-feed the farm’s animals, and a wide variety of creatures can be spotted across the site including llamas, alpacas, donkeys, goats, pigs and rabbits.
Throughout the day, children can attend scheduled animal talks, meet the pets events, and take part in animal feeding and grooming opportunities.
Although during the high season, there may be queues for some of the activities, though these are rarely long. Children can spend as much or as little time in each section as desired.

The Cafés
There are a few options in terms of refreshments to keep the family fuelled. The park’s café is ideally situated next to the attraction’s indoor soft play, allowing adults to enjoy a coffee whilst the youngsters burn off steam. Hot food can be purchased from here between 11:30am and 3:30pm daily, with last orders being taken at 3:15pm.
If you’re after a lighter treat, you’ll either want to head to the Snack Shack, where Luxury Lakes ice cream is served from a kiosk window, or to the Treat Trailer, which is located in the outdoor play area. The Treat Trailer is a mobile coffee shop open during peak times in the school holidays and serves up loaded popcorn, hot dogs, ice cream tubs, and hot and cold drinks. Although conveniently located, the trailer does only serve filter coffee, so for those on the hunt for freshly ground, head inside to the main café and get a drink to go!
Picnics from home are welcome at any of the seating areas around the park, including in the café.

The Lake District Kids Verdict
Despite what its name suggests, you’d be mistaken to think that the Lakeland Maze Farm Park is just about the maize. The award-winning labyrinth is undeniably a brilliant centrepiece, but it scratches the surface of what the site actually delivers, which is a fun-filled, full day out for children of all ages, even if you choose not to complete the main maze itself.
If you’re looking for a day of child-led freedom, where they can navigate their own fun in a safe and stimulating environment, then the Lakeland Maze Farm Park is absolutely one to add to your Lake District days out list!
